Bounty hunter, bon vivant, explorer, gambler, gentleman, hustler, vagabond, doombringer. These are just a few of the labels that follow Josiah wherever he goes.
Josiah was born in Wizard’s Gulch, son of retired adventuring couple Byron and Miranda Proximo. As a child, he had an insatiable curiosity and a knack for getting into and out of trouble. An accident destroying the town’s clock tower when he was 10 earned him the nickname “Jinx” among the locals. At 16, his parents were killed defending the town from a raid by gnoll bandits. He vowed vengeance, and quickly got it, burning the marauders’ campsite beyond recognition. Rumors abound as to where his power to command fire and bestow curses actually came from, and Josiah himself is very tight-lipped about it. Some say it’s in his blood, his mother having been an accomplished artificer in her own right. Others say it was from an ill-fated pact he formed with an infernal entity of unknown power and influence. Still others say it was a great curse bestowed upon him by the gnolls as retribution.
Josiah has spent the last five years as a hired wand, taking jobs on either side of the law. Recently, he’s returned to his hometown with a strange scar on his right palm and a stranger hole in his recent memory. In person, he’s as cool, collected, and confident as ever, but an eerie fire burns within his eyes, suggesting a dangerous rage that no one dare cross.
